Participation House-Waterloo Wellington

                     Achieve Your Goals for Independence

About us

In 1975 a “Residence Committee” was formed through the partnership of two groups, the Cerebral Palsy Council and K-W Services for Physically Disabled.  Their goal was to develop housing with support care services in a structure built for the physically disabled.

In 1977, The Participation House Project – Waterloo Region was incorporated and the first Board of Directors  formed.

Thirty-three years later, PHWW stands proudly in the community, providing services to adults with physical disabilities and brain injuries.

From the vision of one service for fifteen clients, we have evolved to serve 350 clients in eight different and unique settings:

· Supportive Housing at two sites. Clients live in their own apartments (Strasburg Road & Union Lane)

· ABI Group Home (Tagge Street)

· Two tiers of ABI Day Programs:  The Opportunity Centre and Beginnings (both on King St. West)

· ABI Outreach services in Waterloo Region and Wellington County

· ABI Transitional Housing (Summit Program) in Bridgeport

Eighty  dedicated employees serve our clients and survivors – they are the essence of Participation House.  A nine-person voluntary Board of Directors governs wisely and with equal dedication.  They are truly committed to leading PHWW into the future.
