Who We Are
Participation House - Waterloo Wellington (PHWW) is known as a place of innovative excellence. Our ability to provide people in our community with a place to gain access to the services they need is a testament to our commitment to finding solutions that work. The strength of ongoing innovation and great service rests in the hearts and souls of our staff who are passionate about what they do. As an employer of choice, we continue to hear that PHWW is the place to work, learn, share and connect with our clients.
This resilient and capable not-for-profit was founded in 1977 by a group of hardworking parents who wanted something beyond institutionalized housing for their children. As a result, our first supportive housing site received provincial funding in 1981. A second supportive housing site was added a few years later.
In 1993, Participation House expanded its vision to include those with brain injuries. A group home for those who had survived a catastrophic brain injury (ABI) was designed and built. Our passion for brain injury services enabled us to diversify and expand our services and as a result, an ABI Outreach and Day Program became a reality.
PHWW was started with the dream of supporting adults with disabilities to live independently in their community. This dream has become a reality.
